As you can see on the left, my parents like to really put out a spread on Christmas Eve. That was just the food in the dining room, there was a lot more in the kitchen, including about 8 pounds or more of shrimp. Needless to say, I have been way off my diet for the past two weeks and it shows. I am not even going into what the scales said when I stepped on them (but it sounded a lot like Moo).
My parents went all out for Christmas this year. My dad spared no expense when it came to food, drink, and even gifts. Brande and I both received wallets as gifts, and upon further inspection, they had quite a bit of cash in them. That was on top of all the other gifts they had bought for us. My father was playing Santa to everyone: us, the kids, my mom, sister, and even my uncles. I can’t even imagine how many thousands of dollars he spent to give everyone the Christmas that he wanted them to have. But then, that’s my dad. Probably the most generous man I know. And my mom has been running around nonstop since we got here, cooking, shopping, and making sure I was packing back on the pounds. But I think that is what mothers do. :p
The vacation is winding down and we spent part of the day experimenting with ways to get everything into the Yukon. It was pretty full on the way down, so we may be sitting on things for the drive home tomorrow. Ugh, the drive home. I am not looking forward to that.
I am off to watch the ball game and enjoy some Christmas dinner. Hope everyone is having a great Christmas.
